BBC New Talent

BBC New Talent is about finding and inspiring new talent. Every year a number of schemes are created and run offering opportunities in all areas of broadcasting including comedy, drama, film, music, writing, presenting and entertainment. Several schemes are aimed specifically at young people aged under 16.Some of the initiatives offer job opportunities within the BBC, others provide a platform to showcase your talent and others give you the chance to network with key industry professionals.

Even if there are no opportunities of interest to you when you visit the site, you'll get lots of great advice and encouragement from the BBC's experts. You can also meet some of the previous winners and find out why they were chosen and how they've got on since. There are hundreds of useful links to help you pursue your passion and, where possible, you'll be informed about opportunities outside of the BBC.

Eyefish

Eyefish is an information resource for people who are interested in, undergoing training for or working in the TV industry. Features include a Production Guide with articles on what goes on in different areas of the production process. Articles are written by working industry professionals, provide current information and are constsntly added and updated to keep up with industry developments. FDMX

FDMX run short courses for new entrants and those already in the industry. FDMX is the Knowledge Exchange for film, TV and digital media, helping people develop their skills, knowledge and contacts in these industries.

Not From Concentrate

Not From Concentrate work with people with ideas for TV programmes or media products, helping them develop and refine their sparks of creativity into commercially viable content. They aim to work with undiscovered creative people who are not already on the media industry radar and offer workshops and a jobs board.

Propeller

Propeller is the only ‘not for profit' UK TV channel dedicated to showcasing short films and promoting new film and TV talent to the UK and Europe on Sky TV. The Propeller channel works closely with Skillset.

Propeller is looking for short films: horror, experimental, comedy, romance, animations, documentaries, unsigned music videos, student films, making ofs, film trailers, TV programmes or features. The films can be any genre or and between 2-30 minutes.

Propeller can be found on sky channel 195 and is on air 7 days a week between 8pm and 1am.


The Runners Club

The Runners Club is an agency providing runners to many sectors, including TV. The agency was founded by Nicholas Sherard, a director/producer who began his career as a runner and so understands how it can be a foot in the door of many creative media industries. The Runners Club recruits and provides runners in TV, film, radio and photography amongst others.
