Standards and Qualifications
One of Skillset's main roles is to develop and maintain National Occupational Standards for all occupations across the creative media industries. These standards define the skills, knowledge and experience required to work in those industries.
We also play a key role in developing qualifications for adults and 14-19 year olds, ensuring that qualifications for use in, or progression into creative media will meet the needs of employers and individuals.
Skillset's research programme underpins all of this, helping to guarantee that the National Occupational Standards provide an accurate, up-to-date reflection of the industries, and that qualifications meet industry need.
Our current priority is to develop a comprehensive occupational and functional map of the industries, upon which a new occupational classification system will be based. These will provide the framework determining which job profiles and occupational standards are developed by Skillset and informing the provision of information, advice and guidance (IAG) by Skillset's Careers Service.
