Skillset and Creative Process showcase innovative creative and digital media apprenticeships
Skillset have created innovative new apprenticeships for the digital era with the Advanced Apprenticeship in Creative and Digital Media.
Now in its third year, there are more than 450 apprentices throughout England working with employers such as the BBC, Channel 4, Twofour Group and Halo Films.
Employers and apprentices came together to demonstrate the benefits and successes of the apprenticeship programme at Generation Digital, held at the Thomson Reuters building in Canary Wharf on Monday, 6 February.
Generation Digital was organised by Creative Process in conjunction with National Apprenticeship Service, Skillset, Thomson Reuters and EMI Music.
Guests heard from leading global digital media companies as to why they are embracing advanced and higher level digital media apprenticeships and how these digital apprentices are re-shaping our world in their image.
Chaired by Keme Nzerem of Channel 4 News, speakers on the day included Stewart Pedler, Global Head of Marketing and Creative at Thomson Reuters; Andria Vidler, CEO at EMI Music; Simon Waugh, CEO at National Apprenticeships Service and Dinah Caine, CEO at Skillset.
Skillset's chief executive, Dinah Caine, said: "These Skillset Apprenticeships are an exciting and innovative way for businesses to access and develop new talent with the skills they need to drive growth. Research shows that more than 80% of businesses who take on apprentices report an increase in productivity, and now with the endorsement of the UK Government and the Creative Industries Council they are a key entry route to our industries.
"Not only will these apprentices be learning the most relevant and up-to-date skills in their chosen roles, they will also forging valuable networks within their industries, and earning a wage while they do it."
Generation Digital also saw the launch of "Creative Channels," a series of master classes organised by EMI Music in partnership with Creative Process, giving digital media apprentices a unique insight into some of the world's best-known digital media companies.
