What came out of the Pre-Apprenticeship scheme?
In 2007 Skillset developed a Pre-Apprenticeship programme, forging a groundbreaking new route into the media industries and the Advanced Apprenticeship in Creative and Digital Media.
A key part of the programme was a film challenge, where trainees developed, shot, directed and produced a short film in its entirety. The results varied greatly: from films about diversity issues to reporting on the end of the world.

The development of the Pre-Apprenticeship programme was funded by the London Development Agency to help London's diverse communities enter the industry, with a view to supporting the range of media activities needed for the London 2012 Games.
The Apprenticeship programme, which has been developed by Skillset with support from the National Apprenticeship Service, is currently running in London, Wales, the North West and the South West of England.
