Management and Leadership Bursaries: How to apply to make courses eligible for bursaries
Have you checked whether your organisation meets the criteria?
If not, before proceeding, please click here to check the eligibility criteria for applying to have your course(s) listed as eligible for Management and Leadership Bursaries.
What should you send?
(1) You should send us an email listing the titles of the programmes you wish to be considered, along with the priority areas addressed and experience level the programme comes under:
- Becoming a manager
- New managers
- Established managers
- Creative leaders
So, for example you could write in your email:
Course Title: "Dealing With Difficult People"
Communication Skills: Handling Difficult Situations
Suitable for: Established Managers
(2) Then for each programme you should send as an attachment a detailed outline of the Management and Leadership programme you are running, including:
- A brief introductory note on the training provider's record in delivering schemes for the television industry;
- Details of timings, module themes and a description of their content, and how it specifically addresses needs of television industry;
- The name of the tutor(s) and a brief note on their background;
- The full fee charged for attendance including VAT.
You may send outlines for as many programmes as you wish you to be part of the scheme.
Please email this information to Raechel Leigh Carter at raechelc@skillset.org.
(3) Please ensure you put your email and phone contact details in the text of the email that you send us.
(4) At the same time, please email Lavinia Orton at laviniao@creativeskillset.org to request the form to supply the full details of your course(s) for uploading and listing on the Skillset/BFI Media Courses Directory.
Please note that by listing your course or courses on our database, that does not automatically mean that they will be eligible for bursaries. If your course or courses are deemed eligible, you will be notified and they will be tagged accordingly on the website. If not, we will still promote your courses as part of the general listings.
When should you send it?
There is no deadline for submission, so you may send in course outlines as often as you like for the duration of the scheme.
We have a turnaround of three weeks to get programmes assessed, tagged and uploaded on to our database.
The scheme will run until funds are spent or 31 March 2011, whichever is the sooner.
What will happen next?
Skillset will assess your course outline to ensure that it is addressing skills for management and leadership. Assessing each course outline will take us a maximum of 2 weeks.
If your course is assessed as having sufficient management and leadership content, we will send you an email confirming our decision and your course details will be posted on the Skillset/BFI Media Courses database in the ‘Skillset Funded Courses' section. This will mean that, when the Management and Leadership Bursaries scheme launches, TV professionals will be able to apply to Skillset for a bursary to help meet the costs of attending the course.
