Creative Skillset has health and safety grants for film or TV professionals to spend on a pre–selected range of courses covering key skills the industry is looking for in its workforce.

The amount you can get can vary, depending on whether you're employed or work freelance.

You'll get:

• 80% (up to a maximum of £800) of the cost of a training course if you are a freelancer.
• 50% (up to a maximum of £500) of the cost of a training course if you are in permanent employment.
• 50% (up to a maximum of £500) of the cost of a course leading to a qualification, whether you are freelancer or an employee.

It is vital that you read the eligibility guidelines before applying. Your application will not be successful if you do not demonstrate that you meet all the eligibility criteria.

Health and safety funding guidelines

Below is an overview of the main eligibility criteria, so that you can quickly check whether you have the necessary experience before downloading the guidelines to read further.

Are you eligible?

As an applicant, you will need to demonstrate proven professional experience working in the film or TV industry i.e.:

• You have at least three film or TV credits on your CV which you will have gained within the last three years.
• You are returning to work after a career break, and can indicate in your application how this training is essential to your employability.
• You are regularly working in the industry as either a freelancer or an employee.

• You can demonstrate how the training you are applying for will benefit your career in the film or TV industry.
• You are either a UK national or living and regularly working in the UK as a freelancer or in permanent employment in the film or TV industry.
• You are living in the UK at the time of applying for a bursary.
• You have selected a training course from the list of eligible courses and have been accepted by the training provider.
• You are not receiving another form of Creative Skillset subsidy to attend the training.

or

• You are registered on the Creative Skillset Craft and Technical Skills Academy Trainee Network Scheme.

and the course you want to attend:

• Appears on the list of eligible courses.
• Starts no earlier than one day after the date your application is received by Creative Skillset.

The following people are not eligible for support:

• Those in full time education.
• Non–UK residents.
• Those who have left the film or TV industries and have no intention of returning to work in the sector.
• Those whose experience of film or TV work was undertaken at film school, on training courses, or in education.
• Those applying on behalf of an organisation.
