In a studio, factory or on a set, there will often be lights, water, animals, actors, pyrotechnics, hot irons, industrial printers, cutting machines, crew, cranes and children. The potential hazards are enormous.
If these risks are not properly assessed and managed, mistakes can be made which could cost thousands of pounds worth of damages - or worse, cause injury or death to members of staff, cast members or crew.
Health and safety is taken seriously in the Creative Industries feeling responsible for the staff in their teams. Nevertheless, this responsibility is every professional's first obligation to themselves and everyone in the workplace.
Creative Skillset has worked with industry to create the Health and Safety Framework, an agreement across sectors about which qualifications or training courses are needed for priority production roles. Find out more about the Health and Safety Framework here.
