Diagonal Thinking

Can you think diagonally?

People who work in the Advertising industry want to do work that is creative, but want it to have a practical impact too.

Those who are successful all share a special skill called Diagonal Thinking. Oscillating effortlessly between logical or rational thinking, and creative or lateral thinking, they are able to analyse a company's business and then make creative leaps based on their findings.

To help you identify whether you have this special skill, the Institute of Practitioners in Advertising (IPA) has created a Diagonal Thinking Self-assessment Test. It will assess your ability to think both laterally and in a linear fashion.

You might not have expected that you'd be particularly suited to the Advertising industry, but scoring highly in this test would suggest that you would be a promising candidate.

The test is free and you can take it right away here:
